The Ojibway Floral and the Feathers fabric designs are by Ojibway Artist Jackie Traverse.  Jackie's art is women centred and draws inspiration from her lived experience as an indigenous woman in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is an inspired, multi disciplined artist whose work can be seen at https://www.jackietraverse.com/.  The fabrics have colours that are so vibrant and saturated that they are hard to photograph and do them justice.  Truly beautiful designs.

The Birch Bark Biting design is by Cree Artist Pat Bruderer (Halfmoon Woman).  A birch bark biting is a unique piece of Indigenous artwork. It is made by biting an image, using only the teeth, into a thin, single layer of birch bark from the birch tree.  Birch bark bitings were used as a means to create bead work patterns on clothing and moccasins, to share stories and to record ceremonies. Birch bark biting is an extremely rare skill in modern times, and the rarity of the art form makes them even more special.  The artist begins by peeling a thin strip of birch bark from a birch tree. Then, by carefully folding the bark, the pattern imagined is pressed into the birch bark, using only the teeth.  More of Halfmoon Woman's work can be seen at https://halfmoonwoman.com.

20% of the sales from the Canadian Indigenous Artist Collection will be donated to Makoon Transition Inc.

We asked Jackie Traverse which organization she recommended for our donations and she highly recommended Makoon.  "Makoon Transition Inc. was developed to create safe spaces for families and children who are transitioning out of the Child and Family Services system. Through an intensive, holistic, team-based approach, families who are referred to Makoon Transition Inc. supported living program are encouraged to learn and practice healthy parenting skills, so that the cycle of child removal is broken."  Makoon is doing such important work and we are honoured to be able to support them in any way.

You can choose your bag style and fabric design using the drop down menus. The Clover bags have the additional option of Pockets, Snaps and Straps. Please add each add on option to your cart separately.  Delivery will be approximately 3-4 weeks.

Thank you for supporting our work, and the work of Jackie Traverse, Halfmoon Woman and Makoon Transitions Inc.
